Monster Loddon Chub - Hookbaits Social

As already reported, Alan 'Boba Fett' Stagg bagged the Loddon biggie at 8lb 5oz.

We have the option of a guesty on the TDFC section immediately downstream from where he caught it, or I can clear it with Simon Bartlam for us all to fish the Dinton section for a social overnighter. We can kip on the river behind White Swan and park in the Dinton car park, or all bivvy up on the TDFC bit which is less of a walk (kip near the motors) and has more swims and features.

We will have to wait until next season now what with the close tomorrow and all, but is it worth starting to make plans now?

What we need to know is how many are interested in attending the proposed meets and when you are all available. If everyone lets me know when you can attend over Summer period I can collate the info and work out dates for sessions

After seeing Alan Stagg's pic of his monstrous Loddon chub I am convinced we have to give this section a visit, along with the Dorset Stour. What an awesome looking creature

A Loddon session sounds right up my street, I will be a TDFC member by then so either option suits me, Twyford or Dinton.

I have set a date for the first social get together which will be 5th - 7th August on the Dorset Stour. I shall enlist the help of Mr Nairn to advise where to fish and any places we can stay if you dont fancy bivvying up or kipping in the car/van. It is not compulsory to come for entire weekend as we know many of you have work and family commitments so just let me know and we shall see you there. Info will be supplied to those interested in coming.

What time is every one getting down Friday?

Might have to make it Friday rather than Sat unless no-ones gonna be there of course.

Got a major domestic problem ongoing at the moment and Saturday might just cost me more brownie points than I possess, if I can possibly make it Friday I will. Pity I won`t be able to hook up with others but if you knew what was happening I`m sure you`d understand, not really suitable for the forum but I`ll fill you on Fri or when next we meet.

P.s. No mate the roach weren`t on 3Bs I`m afraid, all out of them currently. A fact I must remedy forthwith.

Sorry I didn`t get to hook up with you lot last weekend. Nairny took pity on me and I had the day with him getting a bit of a lesson in creepy crawly chub fishing, god! I`m crap at that style of close quarters angling these days. I took a set up which I thought was quite subtle but next to Iain`s would have been better used for beating down the nettles. Still, thanks Iain for an enjoyable day, fortunately I did winkle out a couple just as it was getting dimpsy to save face and it was a nice break from the stressful stuff going on at home.

How did you guys get on? Heard tales of a good roach.

Alright Mic? It was good to get out and meet a few people which at the end of the day is the important part of these social gatherings. I was over the moon to catch a p.b roach of 2lb 2oz on a 12mm 3-B dumbell which the roach took 1/2" into its mouth. Picture to follow soon. Looking forward to setting date for next gathering on the Loddon, where I hope we shall meet up Mr? I am currently in Nottingham doing my normal job but I shall be making my way down to the Trent at Newark this Friday. Absolutely fabulous river, you never know what you are to catch next.

Must be the season for catching good roach on boilies, that`s a cracker mate well done. Maybe you should write a book too!!!

I think Longham is a better option after a autumn flush mate, maybe another visit later in the year.

Unfortunately the inevitable happened today with my friends little girl, so it was good to spend some time with them all last weekend. Sad times I`m afraid.
